Last week students began learning "Down, Down Baby" and "Farmer's Dairy Key", two different song games from the United States. Check out the video to see how to play with the tempo. Also, you can review and see if anyone else in your family can play "Deteggtive Anderson" Level 2!

Second grade students have been practicing playing lots of rhythms and finding and writing those rhythms. Check out the links below to try playing along with the conductor but only pick one team color to play and wait if it isn't your turn.

Next pick any item--- an empty soup can, or a pot lid-- and tap it with a pencil. Or snap, clap or tap a table to create your "instrument". Try to only play when the dropping "notes" hit the white divider. Have fun!

Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade all have yearly learning goals in Music at YSCP.
For 2nd grade these include:
YE.MUS.02.1 - Student actively participates, follows directions, and has appropriate behavioral choices in class.
YE.MUS.02.2 - Student can maintain an accurate steady beat at a consistent tempo.
YE.MUS.02.3 - Student sings accurately, with good tone, in a range appropriate for his or her age.
YE.MUS.02.4 - Student can identify quarter and eighth notes by sight and sound.
